WATERLOO, Iowa (March 24, 2010) – The 4th Annual Iowa Irish Fest, presented by Veridian Credit Union, is scheduled for August 6-8 in and around the Lincoln Park area in downtown Waterloo. The event, hosted by the Cedar Valley Irish Cultural Association, is an Irish Cultural and Fellowship Festival, the largest major event in Iowa to celebrate Irish culture and heritage. Last year, the event drew more than 25,000 attendees.“We started this event because the Irish have a proud history in Iowa that is worthy of celebration,” stated Jim Walsh, Cedar Valley Irish Cultural Association President. “The event has grown tremendously since its beginning in 2007. It has evolved to include an array of activities for the entire family. Veridian’s main sponsorship will help Irish Fest grow even further.” This is the first year that Veridian will be the major event sponsor. "Veridian is pleased to be the presenting sponsor of Iowa Irish Fest," said Jean Trainor, President/CEO of Veridian. "This is a wonderful opportunity for us to enrich the community through a cultural celebration that provides family-friendly entertainment."Several nationally recognized Irish musicians will perform each day, as well as the world champion Trinity Irish dancers. Included in the musical lineup are Gaelic Storm, Switchback, Langers Ball, The Elders, and The Dublin City Ramblers. Further details on performers will be announced at a later date. In addition to enjoying Irish music, attendees will be able to hear Irish storytellers, watch traditional Irish sporting events, sample Irish food and take home Celtic wares.Admission to the event is five dollars for a daily pass or ten dollars for a three-day pass.
