The unruly freezing temperature will hang on for at least another week in Ireland. The government weather service, Met Eireann, have warned that lows of -10C (14F) are expected as the country has remained under a blanket of snow.
Freezing temperatures have already smashed records in parts of Ireland during November, with the mercury plunging to -9.1C at Casement Aerodrome at Baldonnel on Sunday -- the lowest air temperature since records began there in 1964.
"We expect even lower temperatures of from -10C or even below," Evelyn Cusack, forecaster with Met Eireann said today. "Dublin and Wicklow will be very cold. On Friday, temperatures will increase in the north-west leading to showers of hail, rain, sleet and snow. The roads will get wet and freeze. Saturday night will be particularly bad and Sunday will be very severe."
